Adult Faith Formation Program Calendar

Reminder - May 4th

Because there has been a number of requests for Fr. Corapi's Conversion Story, we have decided to show it on Sunday, May 4 from 10-11:00 am.

From a Los Angeles millionaire, to drug addicted street person, to a Catholic Priest...Father John Corapi's story is simply amazing.

Below is a 10 min. sound byte of his story, as a preview:

Fr. John Corapi's life experiences prior to ordination are simply astounding and truly show the great work of God through our Blessed Mother. Filled with the desire to "be somebody" he embraced the promises of the world, from athletics to soldiering to millionaire businessman, his life became a string of successes that always left him flat and empty. God was molding him. Through the Blessed Virgin Mary, Father Corapi began to see the light where before there was only darkness, After a series of trials, he soon felt the unmistakable call to be a priest. Father preaches the "Good News" of our Lord Jesus across the country at conferences and parishes. He gives his powerful witness of hope and Mercy to all.

We hope to see many of you on Sunday, May 4 at 10:00 am in the Knights of Columbus hall.

The program's offerings will be a weekly series on "The Power of Prayer...The Great Means of Grace"

Based on Scripture and the lives and words of the Saints, we will explain and discuss the great power of our seemingly lowly prayers of petition, contrition, adoration, and meditation.

"There is no question that today there is a burning desire for prayer, even if at times the individual isn’t necessarily conscious of it. The more troubled the times become, the more the soul yearns to pray.

The great Doctor of Prayer, St. Therese of Lisieux, tells us “for me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.”

Another great Doctor of the Church, St. Alphonsus Liguori, tells us “the man who prays is saved. The man who does not pray is not.” Such is the blunt language of the saints. Prayer, in order to be effective and even at times very elevated, should not be a matter of “rocket science”. It is most of all simple, humble, and trusting. It is in fact the prayer of a confident child to a loving father.

Despite the thirst for prayer and for knowledge concerning prayer, very few individuals have much if any understanding of even the most basic elements of the science of prayer. We might say, as the official from Queen Candace’s court mentioned in Acts of the Apostles, “How can I [understand] unless someone teaches me?” (Acts 8:31)"

This weekly series is designed to help all people better understand Prayer as a great means of grace.

The sessions will be held in between the Sunday Masses on the following dates:  Session follow-ups below
